How do I send messages to my attorney or therapist?
CaseKeepers includes an internal messaging system that enables you to send to and receive messages from your attorney or therapist. All messages within CaseKeepers are confidential and secure (unlike Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, iMail and other public systems).
You can create a message to ask your attorney or therapist a question, ask him/her to do something for you, or call his/her attention to an important journal entry. When you create a message, you can attach a journal entry, or many entries.
Note that CaseKeepers messages cannot be sent outside of CaseKeepers; they can be sent only to your attorney or therapist (the professional who has access to your journal).
When you log in, CaseKeepers opens to the Journal page.
In the left navigation panel, click Messages.
The left navigation panel expands to show an Inbox where you will see messages received, and a Sent box that stores sent messages.
To create and send a new message, click New Message in the upper left corner. The details panel opens on the right. In this example, client Justin Case is sending a message to his therapist, Sigmund Freud.
In the Subject field enter the topic or theme of your message. When your attorney or therapist opens his/her Inbox, he/she will see the subject.
Use the field labeled Importance to indicate the priority of the message: low, medium, high priority, or critical. The default value is “medium”.
Enter the text of your message in the Message field.
To attach one or more journal entries to the message, click Items at the top right of the details panel. CaseKeepers enters a search mode in your journal. See How do I search for an existing journal entry? for instructions on how to do a basic or advanced search in your journal.
Once you have identified the journal entries you wish to attach to the message, select them by clicking the check boxes to the left of the messages. To select all the journal entries retrieved by a search, click the check box labeled “Select all”. To deselect an entry, click on the check box again.
Once you have selected one more journal entries, click “Attach selected journal entries” in the upper right corner of the details panel. The selected journal entries are listed in the message.
If necessary, you can do another search to find additional journal entries to attach to the message. To do another search, click Items. CaseKeepers will go into journal search mode.
To remove an attached journal entry, click the blue and white X on the right of the entry label in the details panel.
When you have finished entering a title and message, setting the priority, and (optionally) attaching one or more journal entries, click Send. Your message will be sent.
To see your sent message, click on Sent in the left navigation panel. CaseKeepers will display the “Message – Sent” folder with all your sent messages.
The sent message record shows the priority, recipient (your attorney or therapist), the message title, the date and time the message was sent, and icons for each of the attached journal entries.
To view the sent message, click on the record. The right panel will display the details of the message.
If you click on the title of an attached journal entry in the details panel, the entry will be displayed.
If you click on one of the photos in the journal entry, CaseKeepers will open the image viewer. Scroll through the images by clicking on the left/right navigation arrows. Click the white X at the top right of any image to close the viewer.
When the viewer is closed, the attached journal entry is centered (see below). To close the journal entry panel and return to the message details, either click the small right arrow at the top left of the journal entry panel or click anywhere on the message details panel.
To close the message details panel, click Close in the right panel.
To return to your journal, click Journal in the left navigation panel.
CaseKeepers returns to the Journal view.
